Hi all,
I accepted my ITA 3 weeks ago and I was gathering documents. However, out of the 1 year work exp in Canada for CEC, I worked for a Canadian company for 5 months outside of Canada (many at work were working remote at that time). Now I am confused as to how to proceed with my application as I think it is actually not considered for CEC. I already accepted the invite and did upfront medicals. I already have a PCC which I think wouldn't be valid until I am eligible again. If anyone can answer the following questions that would be very nice:

  1. Should I decline the application now and create a new profile? (this is my third profile) I was not able to apply previously due to personal situation before.
  2. Can I update the form with my work history in such a way that my current job is split in 3 rows. First 2 months work from Canada, next 5 work from India (foreign work exp), next 2 work from Canada (current) ? If I do this, can I upload the same documents for all 3 of them, and will this create any issue?
  3. Or if I do not need the foreign work exp points for those 5 months, can I just have my whole work exp of current job (including those 5 months I was away as well) as Canadian experience and apply 5 months later once I get 12 month Canadian exp?
  4. Should I redo PCC ?
  5. I can see medical is valid for 12 months and I did mine just about 2 weeks back, is that good if I create a new profile and apply again in around 6 months? Any help is highly appreciated, thanks very much!

Azan Lakhani: Even if it was work from home you have to be living in canada only then its considered CEC experience.

So yes decline the ITA

If you want to qualify for CEC or claim points for 1 year of canadian work experience....if that's what you want then decline the ITA, wait for 5 more months, complete 12 months and become eligible for CEC or to claim 1 year Canadian work experience points.

You dont need to create a new profile, just decline this ITA and make the necessary changes to your profile

Once you are eligible after 5 months you will get your ITA with the same profile

Do your PCC post ITA or atleast a couple weeks before you expect the invite (be sure this time)

Goes the same for medicals, at that point you will have 6 months left, if your application takes longer, you might have to redo medicals again, If they ask for it. If your application is finalized before that, then you are good to go. And honestly nobody can predict this.

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Azan Lakhani thanks a lot for this information. The only problem is I already accepted the invite and knew about this now only so that's the problem. Should I delete this application and create new one?

Aman Patel: Ashwin Pazhaniappan What did you end up doing? Did it cause any issues?

Akash Nani: Congratulations on ITA few of my friends got their PR even if they worked from india during COVID period. But well it depends on your luck but everyone will decline the ITA because work experience outside canada doesn’t count towards CEC. Good luck 🤞

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Akash Nani thank you 😌

Neha Goel: Ashwin Pazhaniappan what did you end up doing? I am in a similar situation.

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Neha Goel still haven't made any updates to the profile but looks like it might be taken as misrepresentation so i will delete this application

Sridhar Sridu: Ashwin Pazhaniappan Did you delete and reapply? Whats the current status?

Ishan Vaid: Neha Goel, Ashwin Pazhaniappan what did you guys do?

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: I created a new application and reapplied changing the number of months

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Yes I did. Just applied recently

Venkatesh Golla: Hey Ashwin Pazhaniappan,
Could I please know whether your working experience from India has been considered for CEC or not?
Any update?

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Venkatesh Golla hey it is not considered as Canadian experience but you can still use it as foreign experience

Venkatesh Golla: Ashwin Pazhaniappan thank you for the reply

Govinda Kumar: Ashwin Pazhaniappan Hey Ashwin, May I know how to have it counted as a foreign experience? Do I have to change the address or something of the company to where we worked from? I'm confused as I worked for 6 months outside Canada and now it will count it 2 years soon and increase my score counting it as CEC experience. Also, I joined the company on 30th August 2021, in this case, do we mention Sep month as the starting month?

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Govinda Kumar hey I don’t remember giving a different address just different countries for the same job

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: I think you can give Sep as it’s almost end of August

Govinda Kumar: Ashwin Pazhaniappan So in this case, I should break my experience into a few? As I once went for one month and then again for 5 months.

Govinda Kumar: Ashwin Pazhaniappan Also, the address city and everything is required when we want to make changes in the experience. I believe we need to put company's details there, how did you manage to put own country name only in there? Thanks 🙂

Ashwin Pazhaniappan: Oh yes I remember now , I added my home address as I was working from there . I may be wrong too please confirm with others too if you find any. My application hasn’t processed yet so I’m a bit worried tbh
